Oscar Coy, 80, Walters, OK

 

Graveside Services with Military Honors at the Walters Cemetery, Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Roger Noland Officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.

 

Oscar William Coy was born to Alton Clarence and Anna Elizabeth Cordelia (Swinford) Coy on December 18, 1937 at Temple, OK and departed this life in Walters, OK on February 8, 2018 at the age of 80 years, 1 month and 21 days.

 

Oscar grew up in Walters. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and returned home to Walters. Through the years he worked as a roughneck, worked 30 years for Calfy Bros. building houses, and also farmed along the way. He enjoyed going for drives cruising around Walters keeping tabs on his grandkids and great grandkids, visiting family and friends to keep up with the gossip, and scrapping and spending time with his brother Jerry whom he always watched out for.

 

Oscar was a member of the Church of the Nazarene from childhood. He was proud to be a Coy and a Swinford, and was faithful to attended the reunion ever year. He was especially close to his favorite uncle, Travis Swinford.

 

Oscar shared 30 years with Elaine Marie Kosechata DeFate and helped raise 4 of her sons, Paul, Cornel, J.W. and Tony along with 2 of their own, Hoss and Carolyn. He was preceded in death by Elaine in 1998; his daughter, Carolyn Marie DeFate in 1996; his parents, Alton and Cordelia Coy; his brother, Tracy Coy; his sister, Ellen Jane (Coy) White Dorton; and 2 stepsons, Cornel DeFate and Tommy Gorbett.

 

Survivors include his son Glen “Hoss” DeFate and girlfriend Angela Fornoff of Walters; his brother, Jerry Coy of Walters; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Marie Davis whom he had a special bond, Cherry Marie Davidson and Brooklyn Tailor Cordelia Marie DeFate both of Walters; 6 great grandchildren, Jayden Mae Marie Barbe, Julia Tailor Marie Aguilera, Julaine Tarolyn Marie Aguilera, Alexa Faith Marie Martinez, Camden Lee Gibson and Lynden Timothy Gibson; 3 stepsons, Paul, J.W. and Tony DeFate; several aunts, uncles and cousins; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews, and friends.

 

He and Hoss are indebted to Angela Fornoff and all the family for countless hours of time and care given to Oscar.
