Stuart Marsh was born in the rural Walters area of Cotton County, OK to Chester and Lillie (Stephens) Marsh on March 5, 1924 and departed this life in Largo, FL on August 19, 2017 at the age of 93 years, 5 months and 14 days.
Stuart grew up in the Walters area, graduating from Walters High School. He then joined the U.S. Navy on June 28, 1941, serving his country honorably during WWII as an Aviation Machinist Mate 1st Class. He was discharged in October of 1945 and went on to attended Central State College for his bachelors and then received his master’s in education from Oklahoma A&M (OSU).
Stuart married Lydia M. Sylvester on June 3, 1951 in Oklahoma City. He taught school in Blackwell, Buffalo and then Duncan, OK for 10 years before the family moved to Flint, MI in 1965 where he eventually retired from teaching. The couple moved to Linden, MI in 1988. Stuart returned to Oklahoma shortly after Lydia’s death in 2003, making his home in the Marietta, OK area. In August of 2015 he moved to Largo, FL to be near his daughter. He was an avid gardener and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, and his 10 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his daughter, Roberta Marsh of Largo, FL; dear friend, Sharon Deline of Largo; many cherished nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
