Kenneth Sevier

Graveside service at the Walters Cemetery, Walters, OK, Monday, July 31 at 3:00 p.m., Rev. John Croy officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Memorial Donations can be made to the Walters Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 485, Walters, OK 73572.

Viewing 1-8 pm Saturday and Sunday, and then 9 am to 2:30 p.m. on Monday.

 

 

 

 

Kenneth Ray Sevier was born to Marie Joyce (Chockpoyah) and Leon Irving Sevier, Sr. on December 16, 1951 at Walters, OK and departed this life in Duncan, OK on July 26, 2017 at the age of 65 years, 7 months and 10 days.

 

Kenneth began attending school at Walters Elementary and then attended Comanche Elementary. The family then moved to the Porterville, CA area where he attended junior high and high school and then later attended Cameron University back in Lawton. He married Deborah Gayle Morris of Foster, OK on April 5, 1975 at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Duncan and to the union 3 sons were born, Jessie Clayton, Donald Ray and William Dakotah.

 

Through the years he did cross county trucking, drove a cement truck for Joe Brown, was an assistant manager at Goodners East, and worked for Halliburton. He eventually began doing security guard work for Apache Casino in Lawton, along with several grocery stores and various other businesses. He loved making music with his dad and brother for friends, and enjoyed car races and motorcycles.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Sevier, Sr.; his grandparents, Lee and Lorean Chockpoyah, Ed and Bertha Sevier; great grandparents, Tom and Rose Chockpoyah, Polk and Bertha Lou (White) Murphy; uncles, Odell, Elmer, Jack, Dennis and Doug Sevier, and Thomas and James Chockpoyah; aunts Connie Chochpoyah, Mae Woodell and Lou Coy.

 

Survivors include his mother Marie “Midge” Sevier of Duncan; 3 sons and their wives, Jessie Clayton and Jennifer Sevier of Velma, OK, Donald Ray and Catrina Sevier of Duncan, and William Dakotah Sevier of Marlow, OK; 3 grandchildren, J.C. and Jacob of Velma and RayLee of Duncan; his brother and sister-in-law, Leon Jr. and Gwenda Sevier; nephews, Mark and Chris; Aunts, Lavera Thompson, Jeannie Ricketts, Ann Calfy, Geraldine Gray and Jessie Foster; uncles, Fred Chockpoyah and Eddie Chockpoyah; many other relatives and friends.
