Glen "Cotton" McCluskey

December 31, 1924 — June 10, 2017

Glen Hugh “Cotton” McCluskey was born east of Randlett, OK to Joe Mahal and Azzie Olivia (Moore) McCluskey on December 31, 1924 and departed this life in Lawton, OK on June 10, 2017 at the age of 92 years, 5 months and 10 days.

Glen grew up on a farm east of Randlett, OK and attended Riverland and Randlett schools through the 9th grade. The family then moved to Walters for at time and Glen finished his sophomore through senior years at WHS. In 1944 he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country honorably in the Battle of Okinawa during WWII. He then returned home to Cotton County and began farming.

Glen married Marianne Baker on August 20, 1948 at Burkburnett, TX and to the union 3 sons were born. They made their home in the Taylor community east of Randlett and eventually moved to the east side of Cache Creek in 1961. At that time he became partners with Jack Rodolph at Cotton County Auto Supply and bought Jack out 5 years later. The family moved to Temple in 1972 and Cotton continued owning and operating the store, retiring in 1995. He had enjoyed quail hunting, biking and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marianne, in November of 2012; and his brothers, Melvin McCluskey and Joe Ray McCluskey.

Survivors include his 3 sons and spouses, Richard and Sharon McCluskey of Burkburnett, TX, Pat A. McCluskey of Douglass, KS, Bob and Gail McCluskey of Idalou, TX; his sister, Peggy Darter of Temple; 7 grandchildren and spouses, Shannon and Alisha McCluskey, Laura and Chris Mitchell, Justin, Michael, Roger and Samantha McCluskey, Joel and Clinton McCluskey; 8 great grandchildren, Brianna, Colby and Taylor McCluskey, Meredith and Owen Mitchell, Eastyn, Brynlee and Laityn McCluskey; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
