Billy John Crow

Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at Geronimo First Baptist Church with the Rev. Vivian Garza officiating with Rev. Billy Fred Crow, Don Crow and Rev. John Cullison assisting. Burial will be in Walters Cemetery under direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters, OK.

 

 

 

Billy John Crow departed this life May 16, 2017, at his home near Walters. He was born January 21, 1937, northwest of Walters to Emery and Maudie Crow. Bill grew up in the Geronimo community where he attended and graduated from Geronimo Schools in 1955. He met the love of his life, Helen Bunch, in December 1955. They were married March 8, 1958, at First Baptist Church of Geronimo. They made their home south of Geronimo the entire 52 years of marriage. Helen passed away June 23, 2010.

 

Bill worked various jobs including Coca Cola Company, Dink Combs Station and Grocery, Town & Country Manufacturing Company, Ft. Sill Post Exchange, Arkla Gas Company, retiring from Lawton Public Schools with 28 years’ service as paint supervisor.

 

Bill attended Geronimo Baptist Church from 1951 to 1981 where he led the music for 25 years. He also taught junior high boys’ Sunday School class for many years. He was ordained as a Deacon in August 1965 at Geronimo Baptist Church. He felt led to move to New Salem Baptist Church in 1981 where he served as Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and song leader. He and his family left New Salem in 1997 to join Antioch Baptist Church south of Lawton. Bill served as Deacon and assistant song leader. He lived on a farm in Cotton County all his life where he and Helen farmed and ranched while raising four sons.

 

Survivors include his four sons and their wives, Billy Jack and Sara, Walters, Brent and Jan, Comanche, Johnny and Stephanie and Rodney all of Walters; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Kacy and Jake Lee, Brandon and Jaime Crow, Jessica and Justin King, Brittany and Donald Christensen, Joshua and Olivia Crow, Rodney Kyle Crow, Cody Crow and fiancée Katie Tilley, Andrew Crow and Logan Hammond; great grandchildren, Jacy, Joslyn, and Jack Lee, Emma King, and Finley Crow. He is also survived by his sister, Kay Clopton, of Lawton; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Crow, Geronimo, and Jeanne Jarvis, Lawton; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, his parents, his brother, Jack Crow, and sisters Emaleen Baughman, Pat Flippin, and Doris Spence, aunts and uncles and grandparents.

 

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 19 at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Walters Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 485, Walters, OK, 73572.
