Kenneth Driskill

Funeral services at First Baptist Church, Temple, OK, Wednesday, December 21 at 1:30 pm, Rev. Mike Teel officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple.


Kenneth Jule "Kenny" Driskill was born to Vernon John and Ethel (Watson) Driskill on October 13, 1927, west of Walters, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on December 19, 2016 at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 6 days.

Kenneth grew up attending North Rose Valley School through the 5th grade and then finished at Temple High School, graduating in 1945. He then attended Oklahoma A&M (OSU), receiving a bachelors degree in 1949. Upon graduating from college he entered the United States Army serving in France during the Korean Conflict.

He married Patty Ruth “Pat” Hancock on January 11, 1955 at First Baptist Church in Walters and to the union 2 children were born. Early on Kenny worked at the livestock barn at Temple and then kept books for Bone Gin, and measured wheat and cotton for the ASC Office, all the while farming for himself. He later got on at the Temple Post Office, serving as Post Master from 1965 to 1985.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Temple. He enjoyed playing cards and pinochle, raising birds and barnyard animals, as well as hunting, fishing and checking his cattle. He also loved spending time with his grandkids and watching them play sports.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Ethel; a brother, Vernon Glenn Driskill; and a sister, Evie Grosvenor.

Survivors include his wife, Patty Ruth, of the home; a daughter, Lana Spake and husband Greg of Temple; a son, Jay Driskill and wife Ellen of Walters; 3 grandchildren, Matthew Mallow and wife Jennifer of Temple, Eric Spake and wife Jessica of Comanche, OK and Carly Jule Driskill of Walters; 5 great grandchildren, Lana, Shaiden, Ryker, Autumn and Jaxon Jammer; other relatives and friends.
