Barbara Mullens, 72, Temple, OK

 Memorial Service at First Baptist Church, Temple, Friday, December 16 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Kevin Simpson Officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple.

Barbara Elaine (Spurlock) Mullens was born to Clarence M. and Dorothy I. “Snookie” (Wrape) Spurlock on March 16, 1944 at Walters and departed this life at her home in Temple, OK on December 13, 2016 at the age of 72 years, 8 months and 27 days.

 Barbara grew up at Temple, living in her current home since the age of three. She graduated from Temple High in 1962 and immediately went to work at the Haggar factory. She married Coy Eugene Mullens in January of 1964 at Wichita Falls and to the union a son, Chad, was born. Barbara was employed at Haggar’s until the close of the factory in 1989 and then attended Cameron University, receiving an associates degree in 1992. She then worked for Colt Trucking for a few years and then served as the head of the cafeteria for Temple Public Schools for 3 years, all the while cleaning houses for the past 25 or so years.

 Barbara was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Temple. She enjoyed sewing and helping others, as well as, watching Thunder basketball and Sooner football. She loved spending time with her grandson and watching him play basketball and other activities.

 She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Clarence and Snookie.

 Survivors include her son, Chad Mullens and grandson, Landon Mullens both of Temple; her sister, Delaine Spurlock of Temple; a niece, Teresa Ramsey of Waurika, OK; a nephew, Dennis Knox of Medicine Park; 4 great nephews, Josh Gower, Zachary Pangus, Ethan Knox and Joey Knox; several special family members from the Mullens side; numerous other relatives and friends.
