Jerry Henry

d. September 2, 2016

Jerry Henry, age 78, Walters, OK

Jerry Lee Henry passed away after a long fight with cancer.  He did so peacefully at his home with Fran, his wife of 35 years, and his best [dog] friend, Bud, at his bedside.

Jerry was a great storyteller and was known fondly to his friends as a “story enhancer.”  Jerry was born in Abilene, TX and spent his early years in Tyler, TX.  With a knack for mechanical and practical work, Jerry was a successful aircraft maintenance technician during his honorable military service during the Vietnam War era.  After military service, he worked various jobs until settling down as purchasing manager with Halliburton, where he met his wife Fran Priddy. They married and moved to Walters to spend their life together on the old Priddy farm on OK65.

The most prideful years of Jerry’s career were spent working for the Walters School District where he revived the football and baseball facilities into what they are today.  Jerry was a gun owner and expert shot.  His best shot came visiting his brother Jack in Wyoming where he shot a pronghorn antelope running full speed (35-40mph) at a distance of about 300 yards.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Fran Priddy, his two daughters and son Staci Craft (husband Preston Craft) and Traci Kamper (husband Wayne Kamper) and Miles LeBarre, his grandchildren Eric Henry and Kelly Coffman, and his only brother and best friend Jack Henry.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at a date to be determined.  In lieu flowers, contributions can be made to the Walter’s High School Athletic Department, 418 S. Broadway, Walters, OK 73572.
