Funeral Services at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, OK, Wednesday, June 22 at 10:00 a.m., Michael Carney officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery. Viewing at the chapel from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. the morning of the service.

 

Dorothy Lee (Dikes) Carney was born March 7, 1939, in Tahoka, TX, to Lowell Richard and Virginia Lee (Conner) Dikes and departed this life in Lawton, OK on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 11 days.

Dorothy was raised in Ratcliff, TX and attended schools in Kennard and Lufkin, TX, graduating from high school in 1956, and from Cameron College at Lawton in 1958. She married Fred Carney in Lawton on January 31, 1959 and they made their first home in Barstow, CA. She began 25 years of Civil Service employment at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Barstow, later working at and retiring from Ft. Sill. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Snyder, OK and her hobbies included quilting, gardening, as well as, raising and riding horses.

She is survived by her husband, of the home; daughters, Patricia Gee (Larry), and Brenda Hoffman all of Lawton; a son, Michael Carney (Brandie) of Snyder; grandchildren, Lauren Castillo (Steven) of Visalia, CA, Shane Hoffman of Norman, Ashley Heath (Cory) of Lawton, Kathryn Scheibel (Josh) of Lawton, Harley Stewart of Oklahoma City, Katrina Keeley and Libby Carney both of Snyder; as well as, great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Layla and Oliver Castillo all of Visalia, CA, Gavin Heath of Lawton, and Alistair Carney of Snyder; and a brother, Mark Dowdy (Sharon) of Lufkin, TX.

She was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Carney; a son-in-law, Mark Hoffman; her parents; her stepmother, Ethel Dikes; her step-father, Henry Dowdy; and brothers, Lowell Edward Dikes, Leonard Dowdy, Ray Dowdy and Bill Dowdy.
