Zella Jo Bowers, 93, Temple, OK

Funeral Services at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, Tuesday, January 26 at 1:30 p.m. with burial in the Temple Cemetery. Viewing will be held at Hart-Wyatt in Temple from 9:00 to 5:00 p.m. Monday and at Hart-Wyatt in Walters Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 to 1:00 p.m.

Zella Jo (Dilks) Bowers was born to Clarence Elbert and Nell Naomi (McTaggart) Dilks on September 26, 1922 at Temple, Oklahoma and departed this life, surrounded by her loving family, in Lawton, Oklahoma on January 22, 2016 at the age of 93 years, 3 months and 27 days.

She grew up at Temple and married J.D. Bowers on April 29, 1940. They made their home in Temple. Jo worked at Sears and Roebuck and at the Cotton County Courthouse.

Mrs. Bowers was a member of the Church of Christ in Temple. She enjoyed going camping at Lake Texhoma, playing Canasta with friends, and playing wahoo with her grandchildren, great grand-children, and great-great-grandchildren.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.D.; her daughter, Annette Brown; sons-in-law, Bill Davis, Donald Linderkamp, Glen Griffin, and Robert Carroll; grandson, Jerry Dale Sellers; granddaughter, Debby Brister; great grandsons, William Brister and Jason Epp; her sister, Laura Lewallen; her brother, Russell Dilks; and her sister, Glennell Williams.

Survivors include her daughters, Lou Dean Shannon and husband Earl, Kay Griffin, Mary Strenge and husband Kurt, and Shirley Carroll; son-in-law, Harold Brown; 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 32 great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial Donations can be made to the Temple or Walters Cemetery Associations or the Walters Church of Christ Ladies Bible Class.

Serving as Pallbearers are B.J. Davis, Gary Glen, John Linderkamp, Mark Shannon and Casey Glenn. Honorary Pallbearers are Cody Wampler, Shane Bowers, Ryan Armstrong, Blake Glenn and Bouchee Sehrt.
