Everett Douglas Priddy, 54, Ft. Worth, TX
Beloved friend, son and brother, Doug passed away Monday, Nov. 16, 2015, in Fort Worth after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer. Service: 2pm, Nov. 21, First Christian Church, Walters, OK. Viewing that morning from 9am-12noon, Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home, Walter, OK. Memorial Donations can be made to the Walters Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 485, Walters, OK 73572.

Everett Douglas Priddy was born July 3, 1961, to Jean and Duane Priddy, in Lawton Oklahoma. Although his family roots were in Oklahoma, Doug grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from Western Hills High School in 1979. He attended Texas A&M University, and later completed his degree at the University of North Texas while working full-time at General Dynamics (later Lockheed Martin), where he was a contracts estimator.

Doug was immensely proud of the classic bungalow he purchased in Arlington Heights and took great care to make it both beautiful and comfortable. He proudly incorporated many oil paintings created by his Uncle Bill, including those inspired by photos Doug took in Europe. A lover of both genealogy and travel, Doug combined both to research and make contact with his father's family in Romania. After the passing of Doug's grandmother, Sophia, family members thought they had lost contact forever -until one day, in the summer of 2006 a strange letter was received - in 3 languages - English, French and Romanian. It was signed by Doug & from that letter they recognized Doug as a warm & loving person. From that point forward Doug developed a loving and lasting relationship. Soon thereafter Doug traveled to Romania to meet and visit his father’s family in Romania. Despite language and cultural barriers, he pledged to say “yes” to everything he encountered on that trip, even when it involved hiking and eating unfamiliar foods. He came home with precious memories and priceless photographs of his late father. A dedicated Francophile, Doug enjoyed learning the language, exploring wines and cuisine, and visiting Paris and the French countryside with friends. He enthusiastically embraced his “French family” in Fort Worth with the Circle of Friends and Saint-Emilion food and travel groups. He also loved casino trips with his “crazy aunts,” Ruthie, GlorJune and Sherrie, and spending time with them in Oklahoma. Doug will be most remembered for his wicked sense of humor, his incomparable laugh, and his great love of and generosity toward his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Duane Priddy. He is survived by his mother, Jean Hazlewood; brother, Gary Priddy; sister, Dina Burke; brother, Victor Hazlewood; nephew, Sam; nieces, Kevin and Katherine; his family in Romania, Nona, Gilda, Dany, Dandu, Razwan, Dan and Remus; great nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles and cousins; and many, many friends, including his best friend and greatest champion, Morris Booth.
