Mack Murphy, 71, Walters, OK Graveside services at the Walters Cemetery, Tuesday, May 19 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Paul Metcalfe officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Mack Arthur Murphy was born to William Riley "W.R." and Esther Elizabeth (Hernden) Murphy on December 8, 1943 in Lawton and departed this life in Walters, OK on May 16, 2015 at the age of 71 years, 5 months and 8 days. Mack grew up northeast of Walters in the Hulen Community where he was a member of the Hulen Methodist Church. He graduated from Walters High School in 1962 and he soon joined the Oklahoma National Guard, serving his country honorably for several years. In 1967 he went to work as a heavy equipment mechanic for Civil Service at Fort Sill. On November 16, 1968 he married Carolyn Delene Thorne at First Baptist Church in Walters and to the union 4 children were born. Mack retired from Civil Service in 2003 but continued working on post as a maintenance tech for the Twin Oaks Bowling Alley. He enjoyed photography, classic cars, bowling, music, collecting and tinkering with things. He also enjoyed buying stuff for and spending time with his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dona Woodall. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn, of the home; 4 children and their spouses, Jennifer and Tim Roye of Wylie, TX, Regina and Darrin McKay of Walters, Paula and Michael Crossland of Grandfield, OK, and Brian Murphy of San Francisco, CA; 4 siblings, Alberta "Bertie" Armstrong of Claremore, OK, Joe Murphy of Moore, OK, Dorothy Kizer of Rockwall, TX and John Murphy of Cookietown; 10 grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Roye, Jessica, Michael, William, Katherine "Kate," and Elizabeth "Emme" McKay, Wyatt, Ava and Madelynn "Maddy" Crossland; other relatives and friends.
