Vera Wilson, 100, Temple, OK Graveside services at the Temple Cemetery, Wednesday, May 6 at 11:00 a.m., under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple. Vera Verna (Bowers) Wilson passed away May 4, 2015 in Wichita Falls, Texas at the age of 100 years, 3 months and 12 days. Vera was born January 22, 1915, in Alma, OK to George W. and Emma (McHenry) Bowers. She moved to Temple, Oklahoma, with her family at an early age where she lived for approximately 90 years. She married Woodrow O. Wilson on February 6, 1938 in Frederick, OK. Vera and her husband owned and operated various businesses in Temple for many years, and she served as City Clerk of Temple. She was a longtime member of the Temple Church of Christ. Vera was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Woodrow; two sons, Woodrow V. "Red" Wilson and John Paul Wilson; four brothers; and four sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Vera Sue Golden and husband Ron of Morgan's Point, Texas, and Janice Hyatt and husband John of Wichita Falls, Texas; four grandchildren, Rhonda Golden Feather, Brett Golden, Critt Golden and Chris Tollett; seven great grandchildren; a special sister-in-law and friend, Zella Jo Bowers of Temple; other nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers of Brookdale Midwestern (formerly The Sterling House) of Wichita Falls for the outstanding care Vera received while residing there, and Hospice of Wichita Falls for their kindness and compassion during her final days.
