Allen R. "Speedy" Simpson, 75, Duncan, OK Memorial Service at the First United Methodist Church, Temple, OK, Monday, May 11 at 11:00 a.m., under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Allen Ray "Speedy" Simpson was born to Royce Wilson and Dorothy Hazel (Whetstone) Simpson on June 20, 1939 south of Temple, OK and departed this life at Duncan, OK on May 4, 2015 at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 14 days. Speedy grew up at Temple except for a time in California during grade school. He returned to Temple, graduating in the Class of 1957 and then attended Cameron College for 2 years. He married Mary McElwreath Gregory on June 20, 1961 in Temple and around the same time he joined the Oklahoma National Guard, serving 20 years in the Guard and Army Reserve. The couple made their home at Temple, OK, where they owned and operated Sooner Feed and Grain for 30 years, as well as, farming and doing paint and sandblasting. They moved to Duncan in 1989 and he drove a truck for Halliburton. He then worked for Piping Engineering in Tulsa for 10 years before returning to Halliburton and eventually retired in 2013. Speedy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Temple. He always enjoyed driving a truck and his 27 Roadster. He also enjoyed spending time with the grandkids and watching them play sports. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the home; 4 daughters and their husbands, Kathy and Kevin Wedel of Wichita Falls, TX, Sindy Simpson of Duncan, Shawna and Johnny Malone of Wichita Falls, Shlynn and Mark Ledford of Comanche; a sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Ted Newsom of Lometa, TX; 8 grandchildren, Seth Hilbus, Kelli Malone Huffer, Whitney Wedel, Jonathon Malone, Benny Malone, Shelby Hilbus Gower, Alana Ledford and Braden Ledford; 2 great grandchildren, Kingston Huffer and John David Malone, many other relatives and friends.
