S. J. Lewis, 91, Temple, OK Graveside service at Crowell, TX, 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19 under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple, OK. S. J. Lewis was born to Clara Alice (Benham) and Sam Jones Lewis on September 26, 1923 at Crowell, TX and departed this life in Norman, OK on March 15 at the age of 91 years, 5 months and 17 days. S. J. grew up Crowell. He made his home at Lockney, TX for 14 years doing irrigation farming. He married Mirl Jean Morgan on January 19, 1958 at Henrietta, TX. They moved to the Red Store Community southeast of Temple, OK in 1961 where they continued in farming and ranching for many years. For the past year S. J. has made Grace Living Center in Norman, OK his second home. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; his wife, Mirl, in 1993; 4 brothers, Glenn Lewis, Donald Lee Lewis, S.M. Lewis and James Hubert Lewis; 5 sisters, Doris Wilson, Mary Giallorenzo, Irene Bishop, Margaret Ward and Dorothy Louise Pierce. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Donna Jan Lewis and Erik Petrich of Norman, OK; a brother, Richard Leland Lewis of Azle, TX; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
