Robert Smith, 73, of Walters, OK Funeral services at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, Thursday, December 11 at 2:00 p.m., Gene Stands officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery. Robert Lee Smith was born September 9, 1941 at Cherokee, OK and departed this life at his home in Walters, OK on December 7, 2014 at the age of 73 years, 2 months and 28 days. Robert grew up at Burlington, OK. He has been a lifelong trucker, having worked for various transport companies through the years, to include several enjoyable years with Stevens Transport. He also worked as a driller for Thomas Drilling through the mid 1970's to mid 80's. He was making his home on the family farm at Burlington when he met Janet Sue Zachary. They married on November 30, 1991 at Walters and have made their home at Walters since that time. Robert enjoyed gardening, tinkering with things and loved spending time in his recliner. He was preceded in death by his father, John Blevins; and his mother, Esther (Gerrells) Smith. Survivors include his wife, Janet Sue Smith, of the home; 2 daughters, Daphne Smith and husband Robert A. of Isabelle, KS, and Dawnita Smith of Burlington, OK; a son, Greg Smith of Alva, OK; 2 grandsons, Jahue Warman and Mackannah Smith; other relatives and a host of friends.
