Glen Albin, 69, of Walters, OK Funeral services at First Baptist Church, Walters, Tuesday, November 4 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Richard Stillwell officiating. Burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Visitation on Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hart-Wyatt. Memorial donations can be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 341, Walters, OK 73572 or the Walters Education Foundation, 418 S. Broadway. Glen Edwin Albin was born to Moses Lawrence and Ruby Lee (Glenn) Albin on December 14, 1944 at Ringling, OK and departed this life in Oklahoma City, OK on October 31, 2014 at the age of 69 years, 10 months and 17 days. Glen grew up at Ringling, OK, graduating from Ringling High School in 1963. He then attended drafting school in Oklahoma City for a short time before enlisting in the U.S. Army, serving his country in Germany during the Vietnam War. Upon his military discharge in 1967, Glen lived at Ardmore where he was employed at Stromberg Carlson until deciding to attend Cameron University, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1972. Glen's first teaching and coaching job was at Grandview School for 2 years during which time he married Mary Ann Houston on June 2, 1973 at Walters. They lived at Walters for a year then moved to Paoli, OK for 2 years before teaching at Cordell for 2 years and on to Blanchard, OK in 1978 for 3 years. The family then settled in Cache for 7 years where Glen was proud to have begun their computer program. They eventually moved to Walters in the Fall of 1988 where he retired from coaching in 1996 and from teaching in 2000. Through the years he proudly taught science and math and coached boys and girls basketball, track, softball and assisted in football, with a passion for girls basketball. He soon went to work for Canadian Valley Technology Center in Chickasha, OK then onto Red River Technology Center at Duncan and for the past 10 years has been employed at Comanche Public Schools as the Student Data Coordinator. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Walters, and had taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and served as Deacon, having been ordained while at Cache. Through the years he had enjoyed fishing, playing golf, computer troubleshooting, running the basketball clock for Walters Schools and of course watching and coaching basketball. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Sonny Albin; a grandson, Elijah Russell; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Opal Houston. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann, of the home; 4 children and their spouses, Matt and Andrea Albin of Oklahoma City, Lacy and Andrew Rice of Edmond, OK, Katie and Aaron Russell of Walters, Amanda and Michael Glasgow of Temple, OK; a sister, Mary Nell Willis of Ringling, OK; 12 grandchildren, Dade, Emma, Olive, Will, Jamie, Ben, Owen, Asher, Isaac, Olivia, Kenan, and Cooper; other relatives and many friends.
