Edna Eloise McGee

October 31, 1929 — August 20, 2014

Edna Eloise McGee was born to Willie H. and Maud Abygail (Sykes) Peery on October 31, 1929 at Devol, OK and departed this life in Davis, OK on August 20, 2014 at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 20 days. Edna grew up in the Ahpeatone Community west of Walters where she graduated from high school in 1947. She married Royce McGee on September 1, 1948 at Walters and they made their home 15 miles west of Walters where they were engaged in farming and ranching. In 1980 they built a house one mile west of Walters and then moved on to the Arbuckle Mountains at Davis, OK in 1985. Edna was a longtime member of the Ahpeatone Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and working with kids through the 4-H program. She was a good pie maker. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, J.T. Peery and Earl Ray Peery; and 2 sisters, Odell Allen and Nola Shaffer. Survivors include her husband, Royce, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Ronnie King of Duncan; a granddaughter and her husband, Amy and Chris Wilson of Ninnekah, OK; 2 great granddaughters, Alexis and Aubrey Wilson; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.
