Alfred Lynn Smith

Funeral service at First Baptist Church, Walters, OK, Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home. 

Alfred Lynn Smith was born to Alfred Neel and Linda Lee (Tabbytosavit) Smith on December 24, 1964 in Lawton, OK and departed this life in Lawton on December 20, 2023 at the age of 58 years, 11 months and 26 days.

Alfred Lynn grew up in Walters, OK, graduating from WHS in 1983. He worked in the oilfield for a time before hiring on at Goodyear in the late 1980’s. He married Sheri Lynn McCammon on December 5, 1987 and to the union a son, Skyler and daughter, Shaelyn were born. After many years at Goodyear, he started Al’s Steel, doing metal construction and welding. 

In high school, Alfred Lynn enjoyed football and FFA. He loved hunting, fishing and motorcycle rides. He also enjoyed cooking, smoking meat and doing fish fries. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids and was known as “Grump.”

He was preceded in death by his father, Al Smith; a sister, Letti Smith; and a brother-in-law, David Payne.

Survivors include his mother, Linda Smith of Walters; a son and daughter-in-law, Skyler and Sierra Smith of Walters; a daughter, Shaelyn Smith of Lawton; 2 grandchildren, Kesleigh Powers and Stevie Smith; 2 sisters, LaNita "Sissie" Smith of Walters and Cookie Payne of Branson, MO; a special nephew, Chase Smith of Lawton; many other nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of many many friends.
