Funeral Service at the Church of Christ, Temple, OK, Tuesday, January 22 at 2:00 p.m., Josh Mallow officiating with burial in the Temple Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple.

Betty Jo Lipscomb was born on March 17, 1930 in Temple, Oklahoma to Ruth Lipscomb....She was raised by her grandparents, John and Effie Lipscomb...

She attended the Gregg Country School through 9th grade, transferring to Temple High School...So she could make it to school on time...she was allowed to move into town and share rent with another girl, while she finished high school...During this time, she began waitressing for a cafe owned by two brothers, Jack and Gene Kindred, with meals being part of her pay.....She graduated from Temple High School in 1948.

On February 21st, 1947, Joe Kindred, 21 and Betty Jo Lipscomb, 16, married.....To this union, two children were born, Frankie Lee and Carla Jean...Betty Jo stayed home with their children and babysat other children until both kids were in school...At that time, she went to work for Haggar Slacks, and retired in 1973....At which time, she started babysitting another generation of kids...Then, she started baking cakes and cookies for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and every holiday with a symbol she could decorate, up until her stroke in June of 2009 when she could no longer live alone....She moved in and lived with Harlin and Carla for 7+ years....at which time, she moved to Temple Manor....

She was a member of the church of Christ in Temple since 1954, and was active in the church, as long as she was physically able and was faithful long after that..

She loved her grandsons more than their parents, and her great-grandchildren even more...

She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Joe Kindred, her mother, Ruth Lipscomb Swigart, her grandparents, John and Effie Lipscomb, her mother-in-law, Bertha Kindred, her brothers in law, Jack Kindred, Gene Kindred and Robert Kindred and her sisters in law, Ruby Kindred Riddles, Wilma Kindred Williams, Ruth Kindred Smith

She is survived by her son, Frankie and his wife Sharon Kindred, of Temple, her daughter, Carla and her husband, Harlin Mallow of Walters, Three grandsons, John William Kindred of Temple, Joshua Harlin Mallow and his wife Lainie Lynn and Seth Austin Mallow and his wife Shelby Marissa, all of Walters, 6 great-grandchildren, Haylee Grace Mallow, Axel Austin Mallow, Harper Elizabeth Mallow, Rylee Michelle Renae Peer-Mallow, Hunter Isabella Mallow and Sadie Rae Mallow, all of Walters....She is also survived by 2 brothers in law Freddie Kindred and his wife Launita of Ft. Worth, TX and Jimmy Kindred and his wife, Janet Of Andrews, TX, 2 sisters in law, Lois Ann Williams Of Duncan, OK and Pat Robbs Of Geronimo, OK and many nephews, nieces and many friends...
