Betty Jean (Carver) Lewis was born to Vio Lee and Mary Frances (Harwood) Carver on June 24, 1933 in Archer City, TX and departed this life in Fort Worth, TX on October 15, 2025 at the age of 92 years, 3 months and 21 days.
Betty grew up at Black Flats, TX, moving to Geronimo at age 14. She married Hank Lewis in 1950 at Walters and to the union 3 children were born. She raised her family in Lawton and worked as a teacher’s aide at Hoover Elementary and Tomlinson Junior High. Lawton was home for many years until moving to Fort Worth to be near her daughter.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking, reading, and watching cooking shows. She also enjoyed playing poker and going dancing to country and western music at the VFW.
She was preceded in death by her parents, V.L. and Mary Carver; 3 brothers, Herbert “Bo,” Victor and John Carver; and her sister, JoAnn Owens.
Survivors include 3 children, Rodney and Carolyn Lewis of Conroe, TX, Stan and Diane Lewis of Lawton, Vicky and Neil Andrews of Fort Worth; 4 grandchildren, Brian and Jody Lewis of Colorado Springs, Jennifer and Brian Gilliland of Rogers, AR, Andrew Lewis and Whitney Lewis both of Houston; 4 great grandchildren, Luke, Kelsey, Blake and Hope; many nieces, nephews and friends.
