Bettye Vardell

Graveside Services at the Walters Cemetery on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., Phillip Hart officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.

Bettye grew up at Walters, OK, graduating from Walters High. She then attended Draughon Business School in Wichita Falls, TX. Bettye worked in the public since 1952 to include the telephone company, Walters Bank and Trust, high school secretary, Haggars, Walters Herald, the Turnpike Authority for 15 years, United Grocery and others too numerous to mention.

Bettye enjoyed dancing, was the life of the party, and planned and directed several chartered bus trips to Branson and other places. She loved being with people, visiting and cutting up. She was a great host and loved to entertain and cook for the party. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and enjoyed lake life at Lake Humphrey. Bettye was a member of First Baptist Church, Walters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sid and Lorene Stevens; a daughter-in-law, Candy Vardell; and a son-in-law, Michael Epp.

Survivors include a daughter, Theresa Epp of Harvest, AL; a son, Steve Vardell and wife Anne of Checotah, OK; 6 grandchildren and spouses, Courtney Vardell of Calera, OK, Jeremy Epp and Tatiana of Edmond, OK, Whitney Tucker and Albert of Morris, OK, Derek Epp and Yolanda of Athens, AL, Hadley Smith and Clint of Jenks, OK, and Lauren Epp of Birmingham, AL; 9 great grandchildren, Conner Smith, Addison Vardell, Teagen Wilkerson, Jake Epp, Waylon Epp, Reese Epp, Q. Tucker, A.J. Epp and Jackson Tucker; other relatives and many friends.
