Billy Gene Stapp

December 17, 1945 — March 1, 2022

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, OK, Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 2:00 p.m., Chaplain Daniel Edwards officiating.

Billy Gene Stapp was born to Herbert Roy and Flois Bell (Avens) Stapp on December 17, 1945 in Walters, OK. He passed away peacefully at his home near Comanche, OK on March 1, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Bill grew up with his many siblings in Walters and Temple, OK, attending both schools. He traveled the U.S. rather extensively doing the thing he loved the most –working and roofing. Also finding time for his lifelong passion – fishing, and teaching his sons, and grandchildren the joy of outdoor activities and nature.

Bill married Donna Ruth Anglemyer on April 22, 1964 in Temple, OK. He loved his wife and lifelong partner who was always by his side working and striving to build a good life for their kids and grandkids. Bill and Donna are the true American success story. Their countless hours of work and sacrifice enabled them to build a better life for those whom they cared about the most, family.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, his twin Betty Posada, Dorothy Cargil and Jean Smith; 3 brothers, Tommy, Herbert Roy and Kenneth; and his youngest son, Todd Eric Stapp.

Bill was a force of nature, who occupied a big space and will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved him. His legacy lives on in Stapp Roofing – the company he and Donna strived to build with countless hours and many-many personal sacrifices, eventually achieving success by winning Readers Choice Awards 5 different years and an unprecedented 3 years in a row. The true American success story.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Ruth, of the home; his son Kelly Gene Stapp and fiancé Hollye Bryant of Duncan, OK; his grandchildren, Christopher Stapp & wife Brittany of Amarillo, TX, Tiffani Stapp of Edna, TX, Ami Platt and husband Jonas of Brenham, TX and Jake Baker; his great grandchildren, Riley Stapp & Hudson Stapp of Amarillo; his siblings, Sarah Miller of Walters, OK, Raymond Stapp of Temple, OK, Elsie Melius of Wamic, OR; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
