Billy Ray Wilson was born to Chuck W. Wilson and Gladys Jackson Wilson on September 30th, 1950, in Las Cruces New Mexico and departed this life on June 3rd, 2025, in his home NW of Walters.

At the age of 14 Billy left home to work on a ranch in Wyoming. Later while working as a truck driver, he moved to Plains Texas where he ran a gas station, farmed, worked for the City as an electrician, and served as an EMT for Yoakum County. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Plains. During this time, he met Anna Parks and moved to Walters Oklahoma. Billy and Anna were married January 4th, 1991, and have resided NW of Walters ever since.

For the next 20 years Billy was employed by Cotton County as a Road Grader Operator and as a Deputy for the Cotton County Sheriff’s Department. He served as a Sargent D.A.R.E. Officer for Big Pasture and Temple schools. He spent the next four years at Red River Casino as a security Guard and Floor Supervisor. In 2008 Billy joined the Walters Police Department, retiring in 2016.

Billy was a devoted husband and was known as a firm yet compassionate Law Officer. He was respected by young and old alike. He would often take the extra steps needed in guiding youth and building a relationship with those that found themselves on the wrong side of the law. Billy loved to fish and have family cookouts. He enjoyed John Wayne movies, Mexican food, and chocolate snacks. Billy was a jokester, sure to leave you with a smile.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Roy and Georgia Parks, and a son Jason Thomas Wilson. He is survived by his wife of the home, Anna Parks Wilson, two sisters-in-law, Pat Parks and Kay Parks, both of Walters, nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Memorial Donations can be made in Billy's memory to New Salem Baptist Church or Walters Cemetery Association.
