Funeral Services at First Baptist Church, Temple, OK, Friday, July 2, 2021 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Virgil Brown officiating with Eulogy by Rev. Elijah Demerson. Interment in the Temple Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple.

 

Charles Robert Brown, also known as “Superman” by his kids, was born July 29, 1953 in Borger, TX to Roy and Lucille (Johnson) Brown and departed this life in Temple on June 26, 2021 at the age of 67 years, 10 months and 28 days.

Charles grew up in Borger, TX, graduating from high school in 1971. He met and married Mildred Lucille (Demerson) on April 16, 1974 in Amarillo, TX, and to the union 4 children were born. They raised their family in Amarillo, Borger and finished in Temple, OK where they moved in 1993 upon his retirement from Phillips Petroleum. He then worked at Comanche Red River Casino for 14 years.

Charles enjoyed fishing, watching TV, tinkering in his shop, cars, and his trike. He also enjoyed his family and loved his grandkids. He had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred in 2019; 5 siblings, Mary Brown, Tommy Brown, Kenneth Brown, Authur Lee Brown and Bessie Choyse; a sister-in-law, Frankie Brown; and a brother-in-law, Marvin Dehl.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Melissa Brown of Temple, OK, Charles Brown, Jr. and Corinne of Temple, OK, Ruben Brown and Rebecca of Temple, Ara Lee Clay Brown and Kimberly of Temple, and Alex Hood of Lawton, OK; 2 brothers, Roy Brown of Lake Jackson, TX and Virgil Brown and wife Bridgett of Amarillo; 7 sisters and spouses, Drucilla Hutchins of Pauls Valley, Judy Dehl of Pampa, TX, Joyce Ausborne and Eddie of Colorado, Myrtle B. Robienson of Waco, TX, Bobbie Demerson and Elisha of Amarillo, Ella Newsome and Howard of Amarillo, Nadine Simmons and Terrance of Washington, D.C.; sisters-in-law, Elnora Brown of Texas and Mildred Brown of Waco; 13 grandchildren and spouses, Nic and Brooklyn, Dymetrius, Mylik, Honey, Laura, Cheyenne, Gabby, Craig and Lindsey, Kallie, Ja’Rianna, A.J. II, DeOndra and Dan'te; 7 great grandkids, Marshall, Keenan, Quincy, Conner, Caitie, Beckam and Harper; the many beloved members of the Demerson Family; many-many beloved nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.
