Charles F. Wickwire

Charles Floyd Wickwire was born to Floyd Oxen Wickwire and Peggy (Dykes) Wickwire on April 2, 1937 in Lawton, OK and departed this life in Oklahoma City, OK on April 16, 2026 at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 26 days.

Charles grew up in the Pumpkin Center Community east of Lawton, graduating from Lawton Central High School in 1955. He then attended Cameron College and Oklahoma State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Education. He married Carolyn Jean Crowley on November 27, 1957 in Walters, OK at St. Patrick Catholic Church. To the union 4 children were born.

They made their home in Stillwater, OK, Mead and Manhattan, KS, Clinton, Pauls Valley, Mt. View and Hooker, OK, as Charles was managing co-op elevators along the way. In 1976 the family moved to Canyon, TX where Charles bought out a grain broker, operating Wickwire Brokerage for several years. They moved back home to Pumpkin Center in 1993 and Charles served as Co-op Manager for the Walters and Temple elevators before retiring after 40 years in the business.

Charles enjoyed bull riding in his young years and playing golf throughout his life. He enjoyed helping his kids with their 4-H and FFA projects and enjoyed raising his chickens. He was a member of the Lions Club and Rotary International. He and Carolyn have been faithful members of Bethel United Methodist Church, Lawton, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Peggy Wickwire; and his 2 brothers, Eugene Wickwire and David Wickwire.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn of the home; 4 children, Tara Brown of Temple, OK, Mike Wickwire of Lawton, OK, Trent Wickwire and Karen of Bryan, TX, Rhonda McMurry and Denver of Boyd, TX; 2 sisters-in-law, Karen Wickwire of Big Piney, WY and Kay McCall of Lawton; 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

A Private Service will be held for the family with a Memorial for friends and family to follow at a later date. Memorial Contributions can be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 2020 SE 90th St., Lawton, OK 73501 or the Charity of your choice.
