Clarence William Vache was born to Frank William and Bernie Elizabeth (Calloway) Vache east of Temple, OK on February 29, 1928 and departed this life in Wichita Falls, TX on August 14, 2021 at the age of 93 years, 5 months and 16 days.

Clarence grew up on a farm 3 miles east of Temple, OK, attending Donnelly School and then Temple High School, graduating in 1947. He married Betty Lou Gunn on July 19, 1947 at Temple and to the union 3 children were born. They made their home east of Temple until moving to a farm in the Taylor Community east of Randlett, OK in 1950 and the rest was history. As a young man he helped pour the concrete for the Temple Elevator and did dirt work for the new Highway 70 bridge over Main Cache in the mid 1950’s. After sprigging his Red River bottom land years ago, he then began hiring out, sprigging half of Cotton County in Bermuda from that river patch. Clarence was proud to say he had planted a crop on that first property he rented east of Randlett, for 71 consecutive years.

Clarence enjoyed going to the lake, boating, skiing and fishing, and also snow skied for the first time at age 65. He was an active member of Randlett Baptist Church most of his adult life, serving as Sunday School teacher and Training Union director, and was an ordained deacon along with various other aspects of church service. He was a member of the Cotton County Farm Bureau Board, the Big Pasture School Board, the gin board at Burkburnett and was a member of the Oklahoma and National Cattlemen’s Association. To sum it up, Clarence enjoyed farming and felt it was his calling. He and Betty were recognized as Farm Bureau-Farm Family of the Year in both 1960 and 2018. He was innovative and engineering minded. Determination says it all.

Clarence was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents, Frank and Bernie; a brother, Floyd Vache; his son, Mike Vache; and his great grandson, Joshua Sherman.

Survivors include 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Gari and Wayne Laminack of Woodward, OK, Susanne and Doug Kohutek of Edmond, OK; 5 grandchildren and spouses, Shanon and Rob Sherman of Sulphur Springs, TX, Monica Helberg of Edmond, OK, Chris and Brooklynn Kohutek of Arcadia, OK, Trey Vache of Burkburnett, TX, Kristin and Jamie McCoy of Tulsa, OK; 10 great grandchildren, Matthew and Madelyn Sherman, Paxton and Kaulynn Kohutek, Keaton Spradlin, Avery and Taylor Vache, Cooper, Peter and Mason McCoy; his brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Janis Vache of Oklahoma City; and sister-in-law, Lorna Vache of Oregon, IL; his daughter-in-law, Dana Brixey of Randlett; many other relatives and friends.
