Cliff Gamblin

Marion Clifford Gamblin, Jr., or Cliff, was born to Marion Clifford and Lillie Mae (Lewis) Gamblin on October 9, 1940 at Duncan, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on November 3, 2019 at the age of 79 years and 25 days.

Cliff grew up in the Central High Community, attending Pleasant Valley School, and Central High before finishing up in Lawton at LHS in the Class of 1958. He married Nancy G. Aston on May 25, 1959 at Lawton and to the union 3 children where born.

Cliff entered the U.S. Army and the couple made their home and started their family at Fort Benning, GA before his stint in Korea. After he returned home to the states, he was stationed at Ft. Sam Houston until his discharge. The family then moved to Gary, IN, where Cliff drove a steel truck. They eventually returned to Oklahoma in 1972 making Lawton their home. He drove a truck for Curt’s Oil Co. before beginning a 29-year career with Southwestern Bell, working in Lawton but for a few years in Oklahoma City.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Geronimo. Cliff enjoyed playing dominos, camping, fishing and hunting. He had once been an active member of the Jaycees in Mustang through which he put on several childrens gun safety classes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Kenneth Gamblin, infant brother James Robert Gamblin, and kid sister Verdie Marie Gamblin.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy, of the home; 3 children and spouses, Tammye Meek and Robbie of Elgin, OK, Mike Gamblin and Dawn of Midwest City, OK, Deborah Tarrant and Danny of Fair Oaks, CA; 3 brothers and spouses, Harold Gamblin and Mary of Caddo Mills, TX, Earl Gamblin and Shelia of Clay, KY, Jack Gamblin and Aiza of Florida; his aunt, Floria Leonard of Hinton, OK; 4 grandchildren and spouses, Tiffany and Kris Stringfellow, Sara and Curtis Thorp, Joshua Meek and Ryan Meek; 3 great grandchildren, Cooper and Noah Stringfellow and Mason Thorp; many other relatives and friends.
