Clovis E. Hobgood, Jr.

November 1, 1947 — March 15, 2019

Clovis Hobgood, 71, Walters, OK

Clovis Eugene Hobgood, Jr. was born to Clovis Eugene and Wanda Lou (Jarrell) Hobgood on November 1, 1947 at Walters, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on March 15, 2019 at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 14 days.

Clovis grew up at Walters, graduating from WHS in the Class of ‵65. He then attended Cameron College, receiving an associate’s degree before serving his country honorably in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. On May 22, 1971, Clovis married Sherrie L. Priddy at Sherman, TX. They made their home in Carrollton and eventually Lewisville, TX during his 35-year career with Texas Instruments where he served as a Manager of Drafting and Engineering. Upon his retirement they moved to Tulsa, OK for a time and then lived at the Waurika Lake house for a year before buying their home at Walters in 2005.

He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He partook in several fishing tournaments and sailboat competitions, and enjoyed helping a close friend at the track with his race car. He loved attending his grandsons' ballgames and could be heard cheering from the bleachers for miles. He loved to dance and wasn't afraid to be the life of the party on the dance floor. He enjoyed grilling out, was an avid reader of his Bible, and enjoyed sports magazines.

Clovis was preceded in death by his father, Clovis Sr.; his mother Wanda Lou Hobgood Parker; and his stepdad, Arley Parker.

Survivors include his wife, Sherrie, of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Colin Cunningham of Dallas, TX; 4 grandsons, Keagan, Camden, Connelly and Kavanaugh Cunningham all of Dallas; his sister, Sondra Brush and husband Ed of Walters; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law on the Priddy side; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
