Clovis L. Kindred

Memorial Service at the Temple Cemetery Pavilion, Temple, OK, Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home. Memorial Donations can be made to the Temple Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 473, Temple, OK 73568.

Clovis LaVerne Kindred was born to William Franklin and Lucy Lee (Haygood) Crow on October 15, 1933 in Jester, OK and departed this life in Temple, OK on December 30, 2023 at the age of 90 years, 2 months and 15 days.

Living in the Jester community, northwest of Mangum, OK, Clovis moved with her family to Temple, OK in 1939. They then moved to Wichita, KS in 1942 before returning to Temple in 1946. She married George Monroe Kindred on May 18, 1950 in Wichita Falls, TX. Upon his discharge from the army the couple made their home in Duncan where a daughter and son were born. They returned to Temple in 1964 and then moved to Coffeeville, KS in 1974. After a short stop in Davis, OK, they returned to Temple in 1986.  

Clovis had been a majorette in the Temple High marching band. She enjoyed cross stitch, and doing woodcrafts and painting with George. She also enjoyed bowling and volunteering. She worked elections for many years with the Cotton County Election Board. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Temple and enjoyed taking the church ladies on day trips. She and George enjoyed making several trips across the country through the years. Clovis had to have her 2:00 p.m. Coca Cola and chocolate candy bar every day and she loved Thunder Basketball. She was a loyal fan of Kevin Durant!

She was preceded in death by her parents, W.F. and Lucy Crow; her husband, George Kindred; her brother, Bill “Sonny” Crow; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Kindred; and a great granddaughter, Trinity Dawn Dobson.

Clovis is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dianne Smith and James of Temple, OK; a son and daughter-in-law, Donnie Kindred and Stacy of Woodward, OK; 5 grandchildren and spouses, Jody and Jennifer Kindred of Longview, TX, Jason Kindred of Norman, OK, Jennifer Garza and Justin of Frederick, OK, Jaymie Childers and Ron of Woodward, and Kyrie Tapia of Woodward; 9 great grandchildren, Dalton and wife Kim, Brooklynn, Cooper, Lucy, Lucy, Brooke, Michael, Kaylee and Jacee; other relatives and friends.
