Memorial Service at First Baptist Church, Temple, OK on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., Rev. John Carlisle officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home.

Deborah Lou (Kloss) James was a twin born to George Warren Kloss and Billie Jean (Wood) Kloss on January 20, 1953, in Roswell, NM and departed this life in Wichita Falls, TX on May 30, 2026, at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 10 days.

With her father in the Air Force, Debbie and her siblings grew up in multiple states including Washington, Montana, Florida and Texas to name a few. She graduated from high school in 1971 at Spearman, TX. The family moved to Big Springs, TX where Debbie worked as a CNA at Hall of Bennett Hospital. She married Alton Towe in April of 1976 and to the union a daughter, Christina and son, Warren were born. She later moved to Temple, OK, where she married Larry Gene James on January 12, 1985, gaining two daughters, Connie and Kimberly, and a son, Eric. The couple later added a daughter, Davra.

After settling in Temple, Debbie worked at Haggar Slack Factory and Basco’s Leathergoods and devoted much of her life to caring for others through her work at Temple Manor, providing childcare and home health services, and working at the nutrition centers in Temple and Walters.

Debbie enjoyed arts and crafts, beadwork, cutting out and painting gnomes. She also enjoyed reading, playing card games and bingo. She loved cookouts and having everybody together as seen by years of hosting the 4th of July block party. She worked elections, volunteered at the food bank and worked the CE Benson Softball Tournament for many years. She was the family historian.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kimberly James; a niece, Kimberly Randall; and a great grandson, Jackson Sayle.

Survivors include her husband, Larry of the home; 3 daughters, Christina Coate of Temple, Connie Cobbs of Comanche and Davra James and Anthony Campos of Bethany, OK; 2 sons, Warren Towe of Temple, Eric James and Linsey of Temple; her twin sister, Deanna Romer of Walters; 2 brothers, Mike Kloss of Dale, TX and Howard Kloss of California; 12 grandchildren, Keagan Lemke, Debra Cheyenne Johnson, Tyler Coate, Teryn Towe, Kaleb James, Ethan Sayle, Haleigh Matlen, Larry Hayden James, Wesley Bailey, Emery Campos, Jayden Jackson and Whitley Jackson; 14 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
