Funeral Services at First United Methodist Church, Walters, OK, Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Brantley Tillery officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Burial in the Lawnview Cemetery, Cordell, OK at 2:30 p.m. that afternoon.

Visitation on Tuesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at Hart-Wyatt.

Della Sue (Strutton) King was born to William Cooper and Ella Lucille (Bollin) Strutton on May 7, 1947 in Richmond, CA and departed this life in Oklahoma City, OK on October 8, 2020 at the age of 73 years, 5 months and 1 day.

Sue came to Cordell, OK from California with her family as a young girl. The family made their home in Snyder, OK in 1955 and she graduated from Snyder High School in 1965 where she was active in several sports. She then went on to attended beauty college.

She married Wayne Sherman King on June 25, 1966 at Bessie, OK and to the union 2 daughters were born. Sue worked as a beautician for 17 years in Cordell and later in Walters where she and Wayne moved the family in 1981. She then worked as a secretary for the Walters Herald and Bruton Construction before working 10 years for the Comanche County Health Department.

After Wayne’s death in 2011 she moved back and forth between Oklahoma City, Duncan and Kaufman, TX, just wanting to be of help to her family where needed. She finally settled back in Duncan during July of 2019.

Sue was a member of First United Methodist Church in Walters. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and enjoyed attending their sports and school activities. She enjoyed shopping, garage sales, going to the casino and watching Days of Our Lives. She loved when family got together.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne King; a brother, William Cooper “Bill” Strutton; a sister, Linda Carol Phelps; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Sue King.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Kellie Sue Haskins of Duncan and Kara Danea Shadduck and husband Terry of Oklahoma City; 2 brothers, Lindell “Tip” Strutton and Ronnie Strutton both of Duncan; a brother-in-law, Guy Phelps of Edmond, OK; sisters-in-law, Mary Schulz of Las Vegas and Linda Strutton of Kaufman, TX; 5 grandchildren, J.D. Haskins and Heather Shinn of Lawton, Cody Wayne and Stephanie Haskins of Duncan, Amber Danea and Weston Frith Duncan; Austin Lee Edie and Destiny Waller of Duncan; and Riley Shadduck of Oklahoma City; 7 great grandchildren, Isaiah, Darian, Weslee, Kase, Savannah, Claira and Chloe; her best friend, Alice Gamble of Oklahoma City; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
