Delores Dorton

Funeral Service at First Baptist Church, Devol, OK, Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 1:30 p.m., Billy Fred Crow and Don Crow officiating with burial in the Devol Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters, OK. Memorial Donations can be made to the Devol Cemetery or the Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Delores M. Dorton was born to Cladie James and Levada Ellen (Crow) Thomas on September 10, 1933 in Walters, OK and departed this life in Burkburnett, TX on March 8, 2020.

Delores grew up at Walters, graduating from WHS. She married J.W. Dorton on August 9, 1950 at Lawton, OK and to the union 4 kids were born. They made their home in Cookietown, OK until moving to Devol, OK in 1958. She was proud to be a farmer’s wife and a mother. Following the passing of J.W. in 2012, she moved to Burkburnett, then to Duncan, eventually returning to Burkburnett.

Delores was an active volunteer in her community and church, First Baptist Church of Devol. She was a Christian moma who believed she had a home in Heaven. She raised her kids to be Christians, to pray and trust in God. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, opening gates and taking care of people. She loved her grandkids.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.W. Dorton; 4 sisters, Louise Stengl, Mary Ellen Matlock, Daisy Thomas and Lenora Stanford.

Survivors include 4 children and spouses, Ronnie Dorton and Anna of Lawton, Johnny Dorton and Lisa of Randlett, Becky McElreath of Devol, and Lonnie Dorton of Randlett; a brother, Cladie Thomas of Denton, TX; 8 grandchildren and spouses, Regina Laminack and Scot, Tara Parson and Chris, Kim Bates and Paul, Lance Stewart, Kyle Dorton and Lindsey, Blake Stewart and Tiffany, Ryan Dorton and Stephanie, and Ruth Dorton; 13 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
