Funeral services at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, OK Friday, February 16, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., with burial in the Walters Cemetery.
Visitation on Thursday Evening from 4-6:00 p.m. at Hart-Wyatt Chapel.
Dortha Mae (Parks) Weir was born to Roy and Georgia (Brown) Parks on December 7, 1937 in Walters, OK and departed this life on February 12, 2024 in Lawton, OK at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 5 days.
Dortha grew up northwest of Walters, attending Ruth Rural School and then Walters High School. She married Calvin Earl Weir on July 21, 1956 in Walters and to their union 2 daughters, Debra and Sherry, were born. They made their home in Walters except for a time in Tennessee during Calvin’s stint in the service and then later for a short time in West Texas.
Dortha helped Calvin for 32 years in their custom harvesting operation and also worked at Shamrock in west Texas, operated Farmers Corner Café west of Walters, and last work at Superstop in Walters. She enjoyed going to the lake, camping, fishing, and spending time with her kids and grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Weir; her parents Roy and Georgia Parks; and her brother Frankie Parks.
She is survived by 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Debra and Rolan Taylor of Plains, TX and Sherry Nelson of Walters; a brother Raymond Parks and wife Pat of Walters; a sister Anna Wilson and husband Billy of Walters; a brother-in-law Albert Weir and wife Mary of Rogersville, AL; 2 sisters-in-law Kay Parks and Lenora Musgrove both of Walters; 5 grandchildren, Jason Jacobs, Rachel Taylor, Justin Taylor and wife Ann, Brandon Nelson, Karissa Long and husband Christopher; 8 great grandchildren, Rolan, Dylan, Hayden, Kelton, Sarah, Kaylee, Maci, and Christopher Jr.; 1 great-great grandchild Dallas Nocholas Lynn; many other relatives and friends.
