Gayle "Doc" Hopkins

Funeral Services at Devol First Baptist Church, Devol, OK, Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Mickey Miller and Rev. Justin Cardwell officiating with burial in the Devol Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters, OK. Visitation at Hart-Wyatt Chapel on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Gayle Robert “Doc” Hopkins was born to Robert Dinzel and Helen Louise (Gray) Hopkins on November 10, 1955 in Wichita Falls, TX and departed this life in Devol, OK on March 19, 2022 at the age of 66 years, 4 months and 9 days.

Doc grew up in Devol and graduated from Big Pasture High School in 1974. He married Shannan Lynne Burdette on October 5, 1974 in Devol and to the union 3 children were born and they made Devol their home. Through the years he did carpentry for McLain Construction, worked with Don Spradlin and later worked on his own.

He was a member of Devol FBC and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #378 in Grandfield, OK. Doc enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and family gatherings.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shannan in 2020; and a sister Rosemary Winbourn.

Doc is survived by his 3 kids and their spouses, Seante and Patrick Hanlon of Cashion, Kiesha and John Wayne Fowler of Devol, Jaron and Stacy Hopkins of Burkburnett; a sister, Robbie Lawson and husband Dan of Grandfield; 7 grandchildren, Britlynne and Michael Bauman of Wichita Falls, McKalynne Hanlon and fiance Jeffrey Eaves of Wichita Falls, Kaityn Fowler and fiance Ty Murray of Cache, Blayne Fowler of Devol, Hadley, Sutton and Sloane Hopkins all of Burkburnett; 3 great grandchildren, Janelle and Maesyn Eaves, and Westley Patrick Bauman all of Wichita Falls; his Pomchi, Mow, of the home; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles cousins and friends.
