Gertrudie “Trudie” Kinder, 88, Walters, OK

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gertrudie “Trudie” M. Kinder, a cherished member of the Walters community, who peacefully left this world on June 22, 2026. A memorial service celebrating her life and faith will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Church in Lawton, where she found comfort and strength in her faith, with Pastor Bill Schneider officiating. Inurnment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.

Trudie will be laid to rest at Walters Cemetery beside her late husband, James W. “Jimmy” Kinder, Jr, a devoted husband for 56 years until his passing in August 2013.

Born on December 12, 1937, in Apache, OK, to Leo and Anna Zweiacker, she was the oldest of five siblings: Martha Ely, Paul Zweiacker, Loran Zweiacker (deceased 2019), and Treva James. She was baptized at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Apache and spent her formative years on a farm northwest of Cookietown, OK.

Trudie’s life was rich with family. She married Jimmy W. Kinder, Jr. on March 22, 1957, at Grace Lutheran in Burkburnett, TX. Together, they raised three children: Jimmy Wayne and his wife, Margaret Ann Kinder; Tammie Marie and her husband, Tom Brockert; and Kevin Wade and his wife, Becky Kinder.

Trudie was a loving grandmother to seven grandchildren and their spouses: Brad and Loraine Kinder, Landon and Hulia Brockert, Kelsey and Zach Osten, Kody and Ashley Kinder, Bryson and Bradley Kinder, Garet and Dr. Ashley Kinder, and Whitney Kinder and Dylan McCullar. She was a great-grandmother to Aria and Patrick Kinder; Lucas, Benjamin, and Anson Osten; Zayne Brockert; Kahne and Kolbie Kinder; and Lincoln and Layne McCullar.

Throughout her life, Trudie actively participated in numerous activities, including serving as an organist for 45 years, a 4-H leader, and holding leadership positions in LWML, Okla. Cattlewomen's Association, and Foster Care Review Board. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church. Trudie and her husband raised their family farming and ranching in Cotton County, OK, leaving an indelible mark on the community.

Instead of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Lawton, OK, or Walters Cemetery in honor of Trudie.

May Gertrudie M. Kinder rest in eternal peace, her memory cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will be remembered for generations.
