James Thomas “Tom” Gilbert was born to James Bruce and Mary Frances (Taylor) Gilbert on February 3, 1963 in Lakehurst, NJ and departed this life in Oklahoma City, OK on July 30, 2025 at the age of 62 years, 5 months, and 27 days.

Tom grew up in California, after graduating he began his lifelong career in construction. He was an outdoorsman and loved hunting, camping, fishing, and any other activity that got him outside.

While living in North Carolina, Tom met Kimberly Sue Davis and together they moved to Oklahoma and married in Geronimo on May 13, 2000 making their home in Walters. They owned and operated Sunrise Construction for over 25 years, doing everything from remodeling and renovation to roofing. They are members of Brown Baptist Church in Walters, OK.

He is preceded in death by his father Bruce Gilbert, and a son Shane Thomas Gilbert.

Survivors include his wife Kim of the home; his mother, Mary Gilbert of Elgin, OK; a brother, Michael Gilbert of Geronimo, OK; a son, James Shannon Gilbert and wife Leanna of California; two daughters, Amanda Gilbert and Karisma Parks both of California; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.
