Janice Lea (Asenap) Smart was born to Hollis Asenap Sr and Jane Caddo Asenap on July 29, 1951, in Frederick, OK and passed away August 6, 2025, surrounded by her family at the age of 74 years and 8 days. She was a proud Numunu great granddaughter of Quanah Parker and descendant of Titchywy/Permansu.
Janice enjoyed life with her family, food and especially her grandchildren. She loved “pop”, pahhoodas, and frybread and getting Bonuses on Slots. But it was always Black Friday that was the highlight of the year when she could buy Christmas gifts for her grandchildren.
She is Preceded in death by her Parents Hollis and Jane Asenap
She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Smart; brothers, Hollis Asenap, Jr (Marsha) and Richard Asenap (Teresa); children, Darrin SpottedBird, Candice (Shervon) Frederick, Dondi (Karyn) Red Elk, and Miranda Vardell; grandchildren, Victor Others, Dylan SpottedBird, Dixon Red Elk, Javon Frederick, Chloe Frederick, Elka Reese Red Elk, Della Rae Red Elk, Benjamin Vasquez and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Special thanks to Leanna and Brenda Martinez who unselfishly cared for her in her final years, and the Comanche Nation, the Carnegie Nursing Home and Hospice for their compassionate service.
