WE remember Jimmy Dean Rush, 66, of Lawton, Oklahoma who was called eternally home to his Heavenly Father on October 09, 2026.
Jimmy D. Rush was born to Jim and Dorothy Rush on February 5, 1960, in Perryton, TX. The family later moved to Lawton, OK where he grew up and attended Eisenhower Elementary through High School graduating in 1978. In July 1995 Jimmy married his forever best friend and the love of his life, Kristie Glenn.
After graduating, Jimmy followed in his father’s footsteps and began a career in industrial facility construction and improvement. He worked for several contractors on projects supporting Fort Sill and Altus Air Force Base, leaving a legacy that reflected the value of hard work.
Jimmy’s favorite pastime was gardening, and he always had the biggest and very best tomatoes in town. When Garden time started in March of each year…he was there and getting everything ready for the planting. His garden always took over his yard, and the fruits of the production were delicious and loved by all.
Jimmy grew up around horses and loved spending time with them. As a member of the Lawton Saddle Club, he participated in playdays and created cherished memories with family and friends.
Jimmy is survived by his children: CSM James Rush (Lauren) Ft. Riley, KS; Lacie Collins (John Madine) Fletcher, OK; Kody Rush (Kelsie) Billings, MT; and Karrissa Rush Lawton, OK. In addition, eleven grandchildren and two great grandkids. In addition, his sister, Marquetta (Phil) Fritsch, brother Shayne (Theresa) Rush, and Uncle Harvey Adams.
He was preceded by his wife, Kristie Rush, his parents, Jim and Dorothy Rush, and his sister Jayne Richardson.
We will all miss his kindness, loyalty, humor and his down-to-earth knowledge to fix anything.
Funeral services for Jimmy D. Rush will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel in Walters, Oklahoma. The Rev. Dr. Bill Schneider, pastor, will officiate, followed by burial at Walters Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 15th.
Memorials may be made in Jimmy’s name to St. John Lutheran Church. 102 SW 7th Street, Lawton, OK 73501 or to a memorial of your choice.
