Lavetta Valdena (Wolfe) Cox was born to Granville and Opal (Ray) Wolfe on August 27, 1937 in Albany, TX and departed this life at her home in rural Comanche, OK on April 18, 2021 at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 22 days.
Lavetta came with her family from McFarlin Ranch, Albany, TX at age 12, settling at Addington, OK where her father went to work at Ara Ranch. She married Bobby Ray Wheeler in 1954 and to the union 2 children were born. They made their home at Price Ranch at Addington where Bob served as a foreman for many years.
Lavetta owned and operated The Markette in Addington for 8 years. She married Jimmy Lee Cox on February 14, 1986 in Addington and made their home at his place in Corum where she helped him with farming and ranching.
She was a member of Corum Baptist Church. She came to enjoy camping, reading and was an excellent cook and baker. She and Jimmy enjoyed many years of deer hunting and camping in McCurtain Co., OK.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Bobby Ray Wheeler, Jr; and a sister, Lula Ann Wolfe.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy of the home; her daughter, Cathy Lynn Wheeler of Corum; her stepsons, Danny Cox of Grandview, OK, David and Kim Cox of Sallisaw, OK; her brother, Don and Susan Wolfe of Durant, OK; a sister, Lola Lambert of Ringling, OK; 7 grandchildren, Keith Wheeler of Duncan, OK, Lori Knott of Elgin, SC, Lisa Sherman of Dallas, TX, Jessica Nelson of Enid, OK, Sarah Shephard of Enid, Bryan Cox of Vian, OK and Eric Cox of Vian; 16 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
