Lindel Spincer Zachary was born to William Claud and Essie Marie (Daniel) Zachary on April 20, 1938 in rural Walters, OK and departed this life in Ardmore, OK on January 30, 2021 at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 10 days.

Lindel grew at Walters, graduating from WHS in 1957. He married Lillian Yvonne "Vonnie" Claiborne on July 2, 1956 at Walters. A year later they moved to Oklahoma City where he worked as an apprentice brick mason for a brief time. They then moved to California for a short stint, quickly returning to Walters. Lindel briefly worked at Cotton Electric and then Copeland Equipment before being employed at Coker Implement. He started out as a mechanic and eventually became the parts manager and did sales. On Saturdays he worked at Buck’s Pawn Shop with Mixon Palmer and enjoyed working “the art of the deal.” Upon leaving Coker in 1983, Lindel worked for Cotton County District 2 and then District 1 before taking on the job of Safety Director for the county, retiring in 2012.

All through the years, Lindel was also engaged in farming and always loved spending time at the farm. He also enjoyed going to the coffee shop, watching westerns, tinkering in his shed, mowing the lawn and driving My around. Granddad, as he was known, loved spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Lindel was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vonnie; and his brother, Claude Zachary.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Clayton and Karen Zachary of Fairview, TX; his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Bryan Ogletree of Ardmore, OK; 7 grandchildren, Spencer Zachary and wife Kathleen of McKinney, TX, Zack Stowers of Stillwater, OK, Jenna Parsley and Garrett of Lindsay, OK, Blakelee Stowers of Owasso, OK, Quaid Ogletree of Walters, OK, Jill Taylor and Colton of Lindsey, and Chase Ogletree of Lindsay; 2 great grandchildren, Ava Grace Zachary and Everhett Lynn Parsley; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Mickie and Clint Abbe, Judy and Wayne Dilbeck, and Janet Sue Smith all of Walters; 2 sisters-in-law, Shirley Zachary of Iowa Park, TX, and Judith Andruss and husband Jim of Placentia, CA; his good friends, Rick Taylor, Mixon Palmer and Dale Spencer, along with so many other special friends and family.
