Mack Brady Simmons

October 14, 1959 — May 21, 2019

Mack Jr. Simmons, 59 years old, made his transition to the other side on Monday morning, May 21, 2019, at 2:10 a.m., to leave the land of the dying in order to enter into the land of the living for eternity. He had planned his departure by being at his home with his caretaker, Sherry Snider, who had assisted him with his meals and medications and in getting to all of his doctor appointments, as well as emergency trips to the hospital, for the past three years.

Mack Jr. was born to Mack Brady Simmons and Alma Simmons Henry on October 14, 1959. His birth order was the eighth child of ten siblings. Mack Jr. grew up in the small, quaint town of Temple, Oklahoma. He was a graduate of Temple High School and thereafter enlisted in the U. S. Army to serve his country. Unfortunately, due to asthma, he was unable to complete the rigors of boot camp training and received an honorable discharge. He was a career landscaper and enjoyed working outdoors.

Mack Jr. was baptized into Christ and added to the Eastside church of Christ under the ministry of the late Louie Riddles, a local minister of Temple, Oklahoma. Some of Mack Jr.'s thoughts as he faced the termination of his life were, “I have had a good life. When it is time for me to go I am ready. It's going to be like a homecoming.”

Mack Jr. was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Diane Johnson; brothers Raymond Miles, Frank Lewis, and Matthew Simmons West; and his granddaughter Davion Turner.

Survivors include his children: daughter Dyneeshur (Daniel) Miller; grandsons Marquis, Nicholas, Daniel II, Jakayedrian, and Trionte Prince; a great-grandson, Naverious Prince; granddaughters Antcharia Prince and Kamari Miller; son Anthoni (Pamela) Turner; grandson Aleric Alexander; son Chavez Turner; granddaughter Jordan Turner; five siblings: Dr. John Edmerson and wife Dr. LaShelle Edmerson of Cincinnati, OH; Ida Downing and husband Paul Downing of Temple, OK; ND Miles Jr. of Clinton, OK and Louis Miles of Temple; Lonzell Lewis and Jenette Lewis of Wichita Fall, TX; aunts Mary Caldwell of Tulsa, OK; Helen Mack of Grayson, OK; Louella Drew of Chelsey, CA; Gladys Tisdale of Phoenix, AZ; Edna Philips of Beggs, OK; Betty Lewis of Houston, TX; uncles Booker T. McClellan, Joby McClellan, and Oscar McClellan, all of Tulsa, OK; Tommy McClellan and Elliot McClellan, both of Howe, OK; and many other relatives and friends.
