Mary Anne Hoodenpyle

Memorial Services at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Lakin, KS, Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. 

Mary Anne (Rooney) Hoodenpyle was born to Anne Marie (Weisenberger) Rooney and William Thomas Rooney, III on June 28, 1965 in Garden City, KS and departed this life in Oklahoma City, OK on August 12, 2023 at the age of 58 years, 1 month and 15 days.

Mary grew up at Garden City, KS. She married Ralph Wayne Hoodenpyle in Walters, OK on February 16, 1991, making their home northeast of Walters. To the union a son and daughter, Kevin and Kelly, were born. She stayed busy being a mom and living the farm life. In 2005 she returned to Kansas, making her home at Lakin where she began her employment with Kearny County Hospital. Starting as a receptionist, she worked her way up to Billing Supervisor. 

Mary was a Christian. She enjoyed giving gifts, taking care of children and loved all animals. She also enjoyed shopping, movies, driving fast, and listening to music. 

She was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Rooney.

Survivors include her parents, Bill and Anne Rooney of Garden City, KS;  her children, Kevin Hoodenpyle, Kelly Pollman and Taylor all of Walters; her stepson, Weston Hoodenpyle and Lacie of Walters; her grandson, Orson Pollman of Walters; her brother, Bill Rooney and Janet of Lakin, KS; 4 sisters, Debbie Fief of Garden City, KS, Sandy Bernasky and Jake of Garden City, Linda Harger and Dave of McPherson, KS, and Amy Rooney of Garden City; numerous other beloved relatives and friends.

With her love for animals, Memorial Donations can be made in her memory to ASPCA.
