Mike Teakell

Michael Ray Teakell was born to James W, Jr. and Ruby Lee (Foster) Teakell on July 19, 1955 in Lawton, OK and departed this life in Walters, OK on September 30, 2022 at the age of 67 years, 2 months and 11 days.

Mike grew up at Walters, but for a time in junior high and high school at Chattanooga and Lindsey. Through the years he drove a truck, worked for Cotton County as a heavy equipment operator and also worked for T&G Construction, all the while farming and breaking horses.

He married Colleen Kay (Siegel) Smith on November 11, 2020 in Las Vegas, NV, making their home northwest of Walters. Mike enjoyed horses and rodeos all his life and was a longtime active member of the Walters Roundup Club. He admittingly lacked patience.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. Teakell and Ruby Tate; and 2 brothers, Teddy and Ronnie Teakell.

Mike is survived by his wife, Colleen Teakell, of the home; 2 sons and their wives, Justin and Candice Teakell of Faxon, OK, Heath and Alexis Teakell of Lawton, OK; his stepchildren, Chad Smith of Oklahoma City and Haley Smith of Walters; 2 brothers, Terry Teakell of Houston, TX, Tony and Valerie Teakell of Walters; 2 grandsons, Weston Teakell and Ryder Teakell; other relatives and friends.
