Mildred Marie Woods

Funeral Service at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, OK, 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2019 with burial in the Walters Cemetery.

Mildred Marie Woods was born to Leslie Henry “Slim” and Ruby Fay (Cornwell) Turner on May 11, 1940 at Elmore City, OK and departed this life on March 1, 2019 at Hastings, OK at the age of 78 years, 9 months and 18 days.

Mildred grew up Chattanooga, OK, where she graduated from high school in 1958. She had married James Henry “Jim” Woods on May 17, 1957 at Chattanooga where they lived until making their home in Walters in 1964. She did baby sitting for several years before moving to the Waurika Lake in 1981. She also owned and operated Lucky’s Drive Thru, retiring in 2007.

Mildred was a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed reading and spending time in the yard working with her flowers. She also loved spending time with her family. She and Jim had enjoyed camping and making various trips through the years. A couple of their favorite getaways were to a Bluegrass festival and they always made the Woods Reunion at the Duncan Lake a priority.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Slim and Ruby; her husband, Jim; and her daughter, Cheryl Woods Rash.

Survivors include 3 sons and their spouses, Ronnie and Amy Woods of Kingfisher, OK, Terry and Dixie Woods of Rocksprings, WY, Glen and Gina Woods of Walters; her daughter, Kristi Woods of Springfield, MO; 2 sisters and their spouses, Norma and Sylvestre Flores of Ryan, OK, Loretta and Terry Dunbar of Walters; 11 grandchildren, Lori Raper, Ricky Woods, Kaytlyn Woods, Trevor Woods, Tyler Woods, Josh Calfy, Lacy Jenson, Lance Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Eric Woods and Haley Woods; 17 great grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
