Ray Hartman

Funeral Services at Corum Assembly of God, Corum, OK, Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., Benny Grissom officiating. Interment in the Walters Cemetery, Walters, OK under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.

Leslie Ray Hartman was born to Leslie Glenn and Delma Doris (Murray) Hartman on September 29, 1938 in Stephens County near Corum, OK and departed this life at his home in rural Temple, OK on February 29, 2024 at the age of 85 years and 5 months.

Ray grew up on Beaver Creek east of Walters working on the farm and helping locals with harvest as a teenager. He married Mary Lucille Bohannan on August 12, 1960 in Wichita Falls, TX and to the union 4 children were born. They made their home in Duncan, then Altus and back to Duncan. They bought the Texaco Station 8 miles east of Walters in the early 1970’s and Mary ran it with the help of the kids while Ray worked as a truck mechanic at Halliburton and also began farming and ranching. They eventually moved a mile and a half southwest of the station and then settled into their current home southeast of there in 1983.

Ray began his love for driving his racecar on the dragstrip in the 1960’s and enjoyed tinkering with cars and motors ever since. He loved his family and enjoyed time spent with his immediate and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife Mary of the home; 4 children, Becky Brown and William of Grand Prairie, TX, Brenda Barry and Randy of Comanche, OK, Chris Hartman and Anita of Temple, Darren Hartman and Tammy of Spring Hill, FL; a brother, Jim Hartman and Jo of Temple, OK; 3 sisters, Leta Mae Callaway of Sapulpa, OK, Jo Ann Arrington of Duncan, OK and Mary Helen Grissom and Benny of Hastings, OK; 15 beloved grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
