Robert Dees Boykin, son of Martha Dees Pletch and stepson of William Henry Pletch, was born on April 26,1948 in Mobile, Alabama. He attended Cameron University before he volunteered for service in the US Army and proudly served in Korea for 2 years with an honorable discharge and was married to Jackie Rich at this time.
He is survived by his three children, Jerome Boykin in Laurel, Mississippi, Tracy Boykin in Naples, Florida and Nicholas Owen in Lawton, Oklahoma. He has five grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is survived by his sister, Pamela Romana Boykin in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, his brother, William Grover Pletch in Garland, Texas and his sister, Elizabeth Kirchner in Walters, Oklahoma.
Robert was married to Christine Boykin for 30 years until her passing. He worked for Goodyear in Lawton for over 30 years. He believed in strong work ethics and in helping others. He loved his children and grandchildren deeply and wanted the best for them. He loved his animals, especially his bulldogs that he spoiled all the time.
He had that Southern charm, loved his family and friends, loved to cook, manicure his yard and plants, and let you know he was Alabama to the core. Football was a major part of his life, rooting for national teams every week but especially held dear to his heart the Alabama Crimson Tide team, never missed watching and cheering them on, Roll Tide. He witnessed incredible changes in his lifetime and was taught the value of hard work during his upbringing by his parents.
He would make friends wherever he would go and called the military family at the Lawton/Fort Sill Veterans Center his home until his passing on Friday, August 8, 2025. He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. Robert was a member of NewHaven Church in Lawton, Oklahoma.
