Ronnie Calkins

Funeral Service at the Bible Baptist Church, Walters on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. John Carlisle officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home with burial in the Walters Cemetery.

Ronald Dewayne "Ronnie" Calkins was born June 17, 1949 at Amarillo, TX to George Ezra and Mary Ann (Weller) Calkins and departed this life in Lawton, OK on May 27, 2019 at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 10 days.

Ronnie grew up at Groom, TX. He worked for the City of Amarillo for a time before moving to Lubbock where he was employed as a manager for 7-Eleven. He met Jackie Lynn Collier who also worked as a manager for 7-Eleven and they married on July 2, 1990 at Clovis, NM. They came to Walters, OK in 1992, owning and operating Circle S and Simple Simons Pizza, and also did catering and ran several concessions stands for sporting events. Because of a fire they changed locations and concentrated on Simple Simons and catering. He eventually hired on to haul trailers, hot-shoting horse trailers across the US. He later had a transport business helping patients get to their doctor appointments, therapy and other medical treatments.

He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Walters. Ronnie enjoyed doing yardwork, spending time with grandkids, giving people a hard time, playing cards and other games with the family and cooking out.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Johnny Calkins.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie, of the home; a son, Justin Calkins of Walters; 2 daughters, Charlsy Colpetzer and husband Brandon, and Stephania Harris and husband Coby of all of Amarillo; his stepson, Michael Lewis and wife Cassie of Moore, OK; his stepdaughter, LaWana Lewis of Walters; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Larry Calkins of Clovis, CA and Kerry Calkins of Garland, TX; an adopted daughter, Melissa Frable; an adopted son, Brice Wilkins; a very special friend Karen Fields; and his fur babies, Cinnamon and Jinjer; other relatives and a host of friends.
