Funeral Services at First Baptist Church, Grandfield, Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m., Dr. Tony Nickel officiating. Interment in the Devol Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home, Walters.

Sammie Adeline (Washburn) Harrison Ladd was born to Samuel and Maude (Greer) Washburn on November 16, 1929, at Loveland, OK and departed this life in Burkburnett, TX on October 6, 2026 at the age of 96 years, 10 months and 20 days.
Sammie grew up in rural Grandfield, attending Sage school through the 8th grade then moved to town. She graduated from Grandfield High School in 1947 and soon married Bryan Harrison on June 28, 1947 in Electra, TX. To this union 3 children were born. They were engaged in farming and ranching and active at the Baptist church in Devol. Bryan preceded her in death in 1977 and she then built a home in Grandfield. She later married James Ladd on June 19,1982 in Grandfield making their home in Altus where James was engaged in farming. They moved to Grandfield in 2014.
Sammie was a wonderful, very competitive basketball player and Drum Major for Grandfield High School Band. She loved to watch and play sports, was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing, sewing and traveling. She loved attending all the activities of her kids and grandkids. She watched Fox News, the Thunder, Yankees and Oklahoma State.
Sammie was always active in church wherever she lived. She taught Sunday school for 70 years, was VBS director, sang in the choir, taught training union, and was active with the youth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Maude Washburn; her husbands, Bryan Harrison and James Ladd; a grandchild, Janie Ann Payne; a stepson Ronald Ladd; and 5 brothers and sisters, Wayne Washburn, Lamoin Speck, Freeda Lewis, Margie Reid and Wyvona French.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Bryna Payne and Lewis of Grandfield, and Cindy James and Danny of Lawton; her son, Steve Harrison and Leann of Devol; a brother, Jim Washburn of Moyers, OK; 8 grandchildren, Jina Nickel and Tony, Julie Coody and Jeff, Bryan Harrison and Summer, Bradley Harrison and Brandi, Brady Harrison and Sarah, Douglas Miller and Kristin, David Miller and Esther, Daniel Miller and Caitlin; and 21 great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her beloved Ladd Family: 2 stepchildren, Marsha King, Bonita and Larry Shelton; 4 step-grandchildren, Jason King, Jon and Lisa Shelton, Elizabeth and Dustin Cooper and Christina and Dearteuy Jones. 9 step-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
