Graveside Service will be at the Temple Cemetery, Temple, OK on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Diana Nixon. Viewing dates and times are Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple.
Sandra Jean Smith was born to Elvin and Thelma (Brent) Smith on September 27, 1960 in Natchez, MS and departed this life in Temple, OK on June 12, 2026 at the age of 65 years, 8 months and 16 days.
Sandra came to Lawton, OK, from Seattle with her family at age 7. The family moved to Germany for a time, returning to Lawton in 1974 where she attended Lawton High School, graduating in 1978. After high school she began a career with McDonalds and became a manager of several Lawton area locations. Sandra would go on to become a District Manager. She moved to Temple, OK in 1992. After leaving McDonalds, Sandra worked at Braums, Cozzolis Pizza and then as regional manager for Scrub World across several locations and states. She worked as the compliance officer for the Comanche Star Casino and was the director of the Oklahoma Tourism Center at Walters. She later worked at Goodyear.
Sandra enjoyed reading, crocheting, flower gardening, and thrift shopping. She loved visiting with her grandchildren and spent much of her retirement as an advocate for the Oklahoma Regional Food Bank. She is remembered as a kind soul, strict mother, and generous heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Thelma Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Pete Young of the home; a son, Shaun A. Smith and Cheryl Strother of San Antonio; a daughter, Alexandria R. Smith and Anna Nathanson of Oklahoma City; a bonus daughter, Alexandria Austin of Amarillo; 4 grandchildren, Katherine Strother-Smith, Caleb Nathanson, Deondra Hood and Dan’te Hood; 2 sisters, Brenda Battle and Vernon of San Antonio, Robin Smith-Johnson and James of Lawton; a brother, Elvin Smith and Lorena of Lawton; 7 nieces and nephews, Michelle, Dorian, Erin, Antonio, Alejandro, Amber, and Jamesha; other relatives and many friends.
